FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers

Once your purchase is complete, our team will process your registration. Your proctor will receive an email from us within 24-48 hours that includes your course access code(s) and next steps.

If your proctor was not the one to make the purchase, you will receive an email from our support team asking you to provide the name and email of your proctor — access codes will not be released to anyone other than a credentialed technician or DVM.

Access codes are sent via email to your proctor within 24-48 hours of purchase. If you do not see the email, please check your spam or junk folder.

For applicants already part of a PVA subscription:

  • The learner logs into their account
  • They enter their unique code
  • They gain access to the CVA Prep Course and Certification Exam

For applicants not part of a PVA subscription:

  • The proctor logs in to invite the applicant to the platform
  • The applicant receives the invitation and creates an account
  • The learner logs in and enters their unique code
  • The learner gains access to the CVA Prep Course and Certification Exam

The proctor, typically the individual who made the purchase, such as a school administrator or supervisor, will receive all access codes and is responsible for distributing them to learners.

  • A credentialed technician (LVT/RVT/CVT)
  • A DVM
  • A school administrator or teacher

Unless your practice manager is a credentialed technician/veterinarian, they do not qualify to supervise and proctor a CVA applicant.

Yes, as long as a proctor's name and email are provided as they will need to be CC'd on the email with the codes.

Yes. Each learner must have their own individual account to redeem their code and access the course.

If you have not received your codes within 48 hours, please contact our Support Center and we will assist you promptly.

After gaining access, learners should:

  • Complete the CVA Prep Course
  • Work with their supervisor to complete skills validation (schools send in their learners' skills validation lists to the veterinary medical board; other individuals outside of school settings only need to complete and testify they have completed the skills list right before the CVA test)
  • Prepare for and complete the final certification exam

The supervisor will:

  • Verify required skills and experience
  • Support the learner's progress
  • Proctor the final exam

Proctoring means the supervisor:

  • Ensures the learner completes the exam independently
  • Enters their identifying information as the proctor
  • Verifies the learner's identity
  • Maintains a secure and distraction-free environment during testing

If the learner has not accessed the course or exam, the code may be reassigned to another user. Please contact Support for assistance.

If the learner has already accessed the course content, the code is considered used and a new registration will be required.

After results are received by your VMA (which is an automated process after taking the exam), they will send you a certificate.

The course is self-paced, allowing learners to complete it on a schedule that works best for them and the practice. Learners have 1 year from the time of purchase to redeem their access code.

The course materials automatically expire a year after redemption and will no longer be available. Please reach out to our support team for assistance.

Yes. Additional registrations can be purchased at any time, and new access codes will be issued following the same process.
